Chapter 332

She waited for him to pick up the phone. Even after five rings there was no answer on the other side, only the answering machine. She tried again but in vain. She hung up the phone and looked at the letter and wondered what had happened to them. Everything seemed a blur but still it was so true and real and his words had so much immense truth to it. She had never had any doubt about how he felt about her, not even once. It had always been a question about how she felt about him. She loved him very much and she knew that so did Pryag. But there was more to it for her and she always had a thought time figuring it out. She had questions in her mind, so many unanswered questions. She wanted to know if it was enough to marry someone because you love them. She wanted to know if she will be happy and satisfied with her life. She wanted to know if she will ever find someone so understanding as he was. In a way he completed and complimented her. He knew her so well that she didn't have to second guess about anything when it involves him. It has always been so comfortable being with him whether be it personal or professional. So much was going on in her head she had not realized how long she had been starring at the letter and how she even looked. She didn't realize that she had not eaten anything since she woke up. All she had eaten was a couple of chocolates from the gift Pryag had left. She picked up and ate one more from it and got up to clean herself and get something solid to eat. She missed him very much. She wished he would pick up the phone and wandered into the shower. She turned the shower onto the massager and closed her eyes and let the water wash everything away. She was hoping it would also take her distress away. The warm water felt wonderful on the skin, easing the aches and pains that was hidden beneath her muscles that she had not noticed until then. She enjoyed the moment not bothering to wash neither her hair on her skin. She brushed her hair and moved it around to get all the water into her hair.
Forgetting everything in the shower and for just a few minutes enjoying herself she didn't not hear the phone ring. After about ringing several times it died into the answering machine recording the voice from the other end. Diya heard the rumbling noise from her stomach and grabbed a towel and dried herself and wrapped it around her and stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to her closet. She was in no mood to wear anything new. She turned around and saw herself in the mirror adjacent to the closet. She kind of liked the wet look on her hair. She picked up some styling gel and gently rubbed it on her hair starting from the root and lightly messed it up. It looked nice. She grabbed the dryer and gently blow dried it still leaving some moisture in it. She happened to notice her cell phone that she had left it on her bed before hitting the shower indicating that it had a message in it. She looked up and noticed that her land line also had message as the line on the hand set that was next to her night stand in her bedroom was blinking. She picked up her cell phone to see who had called. It was from Pryag. Immediately her lips adorned a smile. She listened to the message. It said, "Hi Diya. Happy birthday from all of us here. I and my parents went to the temple today so I had turned my cell phone onto silent mode. Sorry I missed your call. We are on our way back now. So give me a call anytime." There was a pause. Then the message continued. "I was wondering if we could grab a bite sometime if you would like. Bye" The next instant she was returning his call. In just a ring Pryag picked up as his recorded voice on his phone indicated "call from Diya". Pryag said, "Happy Birthday. Greetings from my parents too." Diya said, "Thanks. Please convey my regards to them. Are you free for lunch today?" Pryag said, "Sure. Why not? Where do you want to go?" Diya said, "Does Mexican sound good? How long will you take for you to get here? If you want I can meet you at the restaurant?" Pryag said, "Hold on for a second. He said something to his parents in his mother tongue and was back on the phone with her. "Five minutes. I will be at your house in five minutes." Diya said, "Wonderful. See you then. Bye."
