Chapter 191

She heard some rustling noise outside and walked out to see what was going on. She saw someone in a long white coat talking to Pryag’s brother-in-law. She walked over there in a hurry and before she could get there the person in the white coat disappeared. She saw the smile on Pryag’s brother-in-law’s face and her heart stared racing. She could feel her heart beating “lub-dub, lub-dub”.

She was breathing heavily and the corridor seemed liked a never ending tunnel. Her hopes were rising and her muscles were tightening near her jaws and her heart was beating much faster as if she were racing against time. She cursed herself for wearing the Marc Fisher "Arve" T-Strap Pump shoes which almost made it impossible to walk any faster.

Little droplets were starting to form a thin line on her forehead just below her hairline. She didn’t even bother to wipe them off; since she neither had a tissue nor did she cared. She could see Chari talking to his son-in-law and she couldn’t make anything out of their expression. She did not notice the wet sign that was placed on the floor and walked right over it.

Chapter 190

It was impossible, not knowing what was going on, and it has been more than 8 hours and no news from the doctors. Chari’s wife had a drained, as if a dementor from the Harry Potter movie had sucked up the life out of her. She looked around. There were eight others sitting in the waiting room other than Chari’s wife and herself. The women to her left had a mole on her cheek, big enough to be noticed. The way she was dressed indicated that she was fond of colors. She almost had all the colors of a rainbow incorporated into her clothing.

Right opposite to her was a man in his middle age, next to him was seated a young man who seemed to be in his early twenties. He shirt read, “Everyone likes a player and I am a player”, below that was a picture of a Casio, all in white on a black shirt, worn too much, clearly exhibiting its stress. He didn’t seem to care about anything that was going on, but seemed more interested in the girl sitting at the rear end of the room, looking out the window.

She was dressed in a Crochet-Inset Cardigan top in off-white and striped Skirt in gray. The fresh stripes made it look very sweet on her slender body. She guessed it to be Calvin Klein, but on second thought, she decided may be not. She looked worried, maybe sad or both. She had a cross on a silver chain on her neck, that she was holding in her hands and it looked like she was praying for someone. Diya realized, that almost everyone in the room is probably concerned or worried for their loved ones.

Chapter 189

It started to drizzle as she walked along the side walk; the ground swallowed it hungrily as if it hadn’t eaten anything in a long time; the droplets were assimilated so fast it didn’t even leave a trace on the sidewalk, except a few droplets that were caught on her hair, that was slowly starting to drip through her forehead onto her cheeks.

She increased her pace of walk and the droplets wasn’t giving up that easily and were determined to settle on her. As though the clouds had turned black with fury and were betrayed by their beloved sun that soared up in the sky, poured out its aggravation in the form of rain.

She almost tasted a droplet and another and the next moment she was running and this time, she was being escorted towards the nearest café to seek shelter in the arms of the only man she ever loved and she the hardly noticed the drizzle turning into a down pour. All she wanted to remember was that she was with him and she knew she probably may not have this opportunity again.

Chapter 188

She picked up her diary and started writing, I have heard ghost stories from the time I was a very young girl. When we had sleep-over’s we would take the flashlight, hide under the covers, and spin tall tails about the man with the golden arm. It would cause us to have nightmares. (I wonder if that man ever found his golden arm). When a few of my friends visit, we used to bring up the subject about ghosts and wonder if they really existed.

The Bible tells us we do not war with flesh and blood, but with spiritual beings. God himself is a spirit. We have the Holy Spirit that hears our prayers and takes them back to God. The Bible speaks about ghosts not having bodies, or of people in the Bible ‘giving up the ghost’. But today I know they exist, because I have encountered one in right in my home. I actually do understand what the term “Ghost” means.

Yes, a spirit inside someone, who could just break or betray another’s spirit and is in the form of my step-father and I swear no one will break my spirit, NO ONE! She got up, packed up her bags and her belongings, made a phone call, left a note for her half-brother and walked out.
