He looked familiar, she smiled but reluctantly since she could remember neither his name nor where she has seen him before. As if he could read her mind, he introduced himself and reminded her that she had stopped by at his house when she had car trouble. She instantly remembered, Mathew, Akshar's friend and his wonderful hospitality. She turned towards him and greeted him and enquired how he was doing. He answered that he was doing fine and asked her if she was waiting for someone and welcomed her to join him. He told her that his nephew was one of the participants in the event today and that’s why he was there. He pointed out to the young kid sitting at the right of the stage dressed in baggy cloths, colored highlights with a paper in his hand and who looked tense. He was probably seventeen or eighteen and seemed quiet shy and tense by the look of it.
Mathew said, "Ya, he is very tense. It is a group performance and he is the lead singer of their troop. Late last night their drummer got food poisoning and was admitted to the hospital and in the last minute they couldn't find a drummer. I think the lead guitarist can manage couple of the songs, but in order to win they definitely need a drummer." Diya was surprised; she never encountered any of these issues growing up. She was not into music anyway, she never attended any either, proffered to stay away from it. But now she felt that there could be such pressures in such an environment. Mathew asked her id she would like to meet his nephew and she nodded since it would seem impolite to refuse. He added, "Luckily there were no age restrictions in the troop and after a few conditions Akshar agreed to be their drummer but they never had a chance to practice."
She immediately looked at his nephew and his surroundings for Akshar. He was not there, he was nowhere. Mathew looked at his watch and remarked, “He was supposed to be here half an hour ago. Well! Why am I even surprised, he never shows up on time”. She tried to defend Akshar, by suggesting that he might be stuck in traffic. She wasn’t sure why she said that, she hardly knew that guy, just a couple of encounters and somehow she was impressed by him.
