It had been a wonderful evening and she could hear Kathy and her brother in the other room discussing something. She changed into her night gown and jumped onto the bed and tuned around to turn of the light. Just before that she remembered that she had to change the alarm for the following day and picked up the phone from her hand bag. She saw that she had a voice message waiting for her and a couple of missed calls. One of the calls was from Akshar. She immediately checked the message from Akshar. “Hey….Sorry I had to rust out on Saturday. I completely forgot that I was gonna baby sit my niece over the weekend. I am not usually like that. When I am with you I seem to forget everything else around me. Felt bad leaving you like that without any warning. I am sorry.” She smiled and listened to the message again. The “Hey…” in the message was beautiful and felt romantic and very sweet. It indicated that he really liked her. His voice had affection in it. She blushed when she listened to “When I am with you I seem to forget everything else around me” and looked at the phone pretending it was Akshar and said, “You are adorable. Do you know that?” She listened to the message a couple of times and pondered whether she should call him back or not. In the end decided that that was not a good idea and it would be best to meet him and talk to him in person and tell him about Pryag being back in her life. She felt she definitely owed him that much. The thought of Pryag sidetracked her. How wonderful the past couple of days have been with him back in her life. She had missed him so much. She thought about Pryag and Akshar. She liked both of them very much. They both were wonderful in their own ways. Akshar challenged her and Pryag complimented her. Both of them brought different things to the table. If she were hiring either one of them for a job it probably would be a lot easier selecting one. But that is not the case and this was no job and she was not ready to make any decisions. She probably wouldn’t be thinking about this if her brother and Kathy hadn’t decided to get married and moreover pick a date for their wedding.
It indirectly put some pressure on her and she never thought her brother would actually settle so soon. In his last trip he said he was engaged and this time he has picked up a date to for their wedding. She felt that everything was happening too fast and too soon. She felt like she never really knew him. He had changed so much and Kathy seemed to be a major influence on him. She missed her old brother mostly because she didn’t know who this new guy was. The one thing that made her happy was to see that he really was happy around her. It was as if a bad boy had turned his life around and become good. He always liked traditional food but never really noticed that he cared much for any other tradition. But now with Kathy around, it was very surprising to see him explain their traditions and Indian culture. He explained everything like as if he had been following each and every one and that he respected them all and he even seemed to know the meaning behind them and their significance. If it were Pryag who was explaining it would make sense as he grew up in an environment. She wondered if she ever really know her brother. She thought about their child hood days. He was more attached to their mother that she was. She was her daddy’s girl. She would watch business news sitting on her father’s lap and ask questions about what was going on. He would explain it to her and even thought she didn’t completely understand everything she enjoyed that time with him. On the other had her brother would help her mom by bringing in the groceries when she is back from the store and put them in the fridge when he was not playing basket ball or soccer with his friends. Her mom always used to say that she needs to learn to take care of the house and not be a tomboy. She used to wonder why her mom spent a lot of time in the kitchen. She always used to praise her brother and she thought she loved him more and her dad loved her more so it didn’t matter. Her brother also used to get sick often when he was young but he grew out of it and she remembered being jealous of him as her mom used to spend more time in his room and not in hers. Now she realized that he was more like their mom and she was more like their father. She had never paid attentions to that part of her brother’s life and today it all made sense. She said to herself, “Maybe being in love changes a person. He is so much in love with Kathy. I have to talk to him.”
