She could hardly open her eyes and she tried to hide under the pillow as the bright light from nowhere was piercing through her eyelids giving an excruciating headache. She heard Akshar’s voice, “Good morning sleepy head. I think you should not hide under the pillow but rather have some breakfast or should I call it brunch as it is a bit too late for breakfast and too early for lunch.” She heard some noise as if someone was pulling some table and placing something on it. Now it all made sense why she was having a headache. She realized she was quiet hungry. She rubbed her eyes and before she opened them Akshar kissed her on her forehead and said, “Your breakfast is being served.” Diya sat up pushing the sheets away revealing her thighs and below as she had slept in his shirt last night. As the shirt was much bigger it revealed more than her cleavage and was a delight to any sore eyes but Akshar seem quiet undistracted. He sat next to her and said, “Would you like to wash your face?” Diya nodded and got up and walked over to the bathroom and he watched her until she closed the door behind her. Diya looked at herself in the mirror and wondered, “Look at me. It didn’t matter to me how I actually look right now and especially in his presence. I am starting to really feel as comfortable as I am around Pryag. I have gone from the stage of looking my best for him to this”. She splashed some water on her face and said to herself in her mind, “I have two wonderful men in my love who absolutely adore me and probably even love me and I just can’t choose between them. I like them both. How am I supposed to choose between them? Oh! God. Please show me a way, this is becoming a torture and I really have to end it.” She brushed her teeth with the past and using her fingers and washed herself again and brushed her hair again with her hands and some water and ran her fingers through them and adjusted them until she felt they were much presentable. Diya came and sat next to Akshar. He had prepared sunny side up with some toast and orange juice. She loved the site of it. She also noticed a couple of bacon strips on the side. She said, “Thank you. I am famished.” And took a plate and helped her with some eggs and toast. Akshar helped himself along with some bacon.
They both ate and didn’t say much until at least one egg or one toast had disappeared into their mouth. Akshar asked, “I noticed that you don’t eat meat. It is not just you but many people from India don’t seem to eat meat. And even the one who do avoid beef. Why is that? It is a culture thing?” Diya said, “As beef comes from cow and cow is considered sacred in Indian culture even most of the meat eaters avoid beef.” She sipped some orange juice and continued, “As for me, my parents were taught not to eat meat as a part of our culture. But my dad occasionally started eating chicken as when he came here all those years ago he didn’t have that much of a choice. But given a choice he chose to be a vegetarian. As for me and my brother we were introduced to Mc Donald’s chicken nuggets. This all started with my brother as he used to get sick often and the doctor recommended eggs and chicken for him. So I ended up eating with him too. But only occasionally. But after my mom died good home cooked meal became a scarcity even though my dad tried to cook for us. Well I was old enough to eat out with my friends. But when I moved in with Pryag’s parents, I kind of gave up eating chicken. I guess it was for two reasons. Number one, his mom is a great cook and food was always in surplus and tasty. Secondly, it is of a respect for them and even after I moved out on my own I never really went back to it. Akshar said, “So you don’t eat at all anymore. Right?” She nodded indicating, “Yes. I guess it doesn't really appeal to me anymore. I actually enjoy being a vegetarian." Akshar said,” I guess it is good to know." They both finished their breakfast and Akshar leaned forward to kiss her and stopped himself. His expression changed indicating taht he had something on his mind. He asked, "Is it okay if I kiss you?" Diya smiled and said, "As long as it is a peck on my cheek. I definitely don't like the smell of bacon." Akshar said, "I will pass. I guess this is good to know to. Let me get the plates out. Diya said, "I think I should get going." Akshar nodded and left closing the door behind him. In a few minutes Diya was ready to leave. She had changed and combed her hair and put on some makeup that she always carried in her bag. She walked over to the door and turned towards Akshar and gave a peck on his cheek and said "Akshar..." she paused for a moment and said "I really like you but I like Pryag too. I want to talk to him and he doesn't know about you yet. I really like you both. I need some time to think things through. Give me some time to think about things please." He nodded with a smile and said, "I am keeping my fingers crossed".
